THE STRUGGLES OF BEING A MOTHER!
Whether to choose this or that?
With an internal doubt on where I’m getting at,
Isn’t it such a constant in the lives of mothers?
Continue career life or choose to be a “stay-at-home” mom, a question that smothers,
Until our child is a certain age?
On what else do I gauge?
To be told right and wrong about ways to raise our child,
Holding peace and calm, while holding our child even when being riled,
To be questioned about every little thing - breastfeeding and related choices too,
When to wean off, choices about transitioning to introducing foods too,
Contemplations, rules, compromises, and aspirations for ourselves, our career, and our little one,
After all, wouldn’t we know, I’ve raised right from when they’ve been in the bun,
A mother while being a pillar yet handling all the turmoil within,
The chaos outside and inside, yet holding our chin up with a smile, all for our kin,
From doing it all by ourselves, for our one true love, our child gives the strength needed to keep going,
Hustling, cheering up, ‘cuz there’s no possibility of slowing,
Keep celebrating the mother you are, and everything you do,
A thankless role, multitude things, yet a river of unconditional love - that indeed is a “mother”, which includes each one of you!
